Week of June 28, 2009

Hi all,

Sorry for missing the last two posts. I had a severe mismanagement of time. I thought I would be able to complete all my posts for next week, make the new item of the week, pack for my trip this week, clean my house, do laundry and get a mani and pedi, go to the post office to mail off orders, and the list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, I only got about half the stuff I needed to get done completed and I am off to New Orleans tomorrow morning at 7am. I am going to a National Human Resources Conference with work. I will be back Thursday evening.

I will post the winner tomorrow morning before I leave, but I will not be able to post again until Friday. There will be no new item of the week tomorrow :(

When I return I will blog and post new items at my Etsy Shop. My shop is not on vacation mode. If you make any purchases this week, your items will be mailed on Friday, June 3.

New Contest

I really appreciate all of you for your continued support of my blog and Fabulous Chic Designs. I would like to increase my followers to 50 by September 1, 2009. I need your help getting to 50 followers. For every person you refer you will get an entry into the drawing. The prize? A grab bag of Fabulous Chic items.

In order to get credit for your referral, your referral must become a follower between June 22, 2009 through September 1, 2009 and remain a follower until the September 1, 2009. Your referral must list your name in the comment section. When your referral becomes a follower and lists your name as the referral, both you and your referral will receive an entry in the drawing.

In order for the winner to receive the grab bag of Fabulous Chic Jewelry, Fabulous Life on a Not So Fabulous Budget must reach 50 followers by September 1, 2009. As I was going through my supplies, I came up with this idea. My initial idea for the necklace was slightly different but I really love how the necklace came out. What about you? What's cooking in the style kitchen?

I had a great week of sales. I sold the item of the week, the sale item of the week, a pair of earrings from Two Dollar Tuesday and two necklaces from Five Dollar Fridays. Thanks for your continued support.

One of my co-workers recently brought me some glass beads that she purchased at a market in Amsterdam. In the next few weeks I will create jewelry made from these beads.

The co-worker who wanted the Rose Quartz necklace asked for a matching bracelet and a black and silver necklace. Last night I came up with the idea for the black and silver necklace. I will work on it this weekend and post a pic for your opinions.

Monday is already here...

This weekend came and gone and I have so much too do this week.

1. This morning at my day job I have to do some of my least favorite HR tasks.
2. I have to finish a baby blanket for a co-worker as a welcome home to the baby, who was born last Monday.
3. I have to finish a necklace for The Chloe Collection
4. List new items to Etsy
5. List items for Two Dollar Tuesday
6. Talk to the in-laws about not wanting to have a ceremony and just eloping
7. Getting ready for my Purple Heart pick-up tomorrow.
8. On Wednesday, I have to do an all-day training at one of our offices an hour and 15 minutes away
9. I have to get and send my little sister’s birthday gift, whose birthday is on Saturday
10. I have to buy and mail my step-dad’s birthday and Father’s Day gift this week.
11. Order the wedding invitations for the wedding reception (Still having the reception, have to have a party!)
12. And if I thought about it more, I would find another 10 items of things that I have to do this week.

What did I do all weekend? I seemed so busy.

What do you think about these Rose Quartz and Swarovski Crystal Necklaces? I custom made these for a co-worker, who saw a Fabulous Chic Labodorite necklace that another co-worker was wearing but wanted it in another color. I didn't have the sterling silver teardrop pendant that the stone hung from in the Labodorite necklace so I improvised. I made her two necklaces to choose from.

What's Cooking in the Style Kitchen

Thank you all for making Two Dollar Tuesday a hit! All items sold out this week. I am working on new items for next Tuesday. Also I am working on a custom piece for a co-worker. She saw a Fabulous Chic necklace that another co-worker was wearing and wanted one with Rose Quartz. I don't have all the same materials that I used for the first necklace but I have an idea to make something comparable.

Coming up next week will be more from The Chloe Collection and Pearl Jewelry.

The Monday Blahs

I woke this morning with the Monday blahs. The weekend came and went to quickly and it was back to the workweek grind. I had a really nice weekend and didn't want it to end. On Sunday I celebrated my Maltese Chico's 4th Birthday. We spent the day at the park and took a trip to Three Dog Bakery, where there were various pastries for pups. So after dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Chico (yes, we are those type of dog parents), and Chico and Maxwell celebrated with doggie cupcakes and ice cream.

My Little Miracle

For Random Mondays, I wanted to talk about the inspiration for my new collection, the Chloe Collection.

On October 9, 2008, my beautiful little niece Chloe was born; the only problem with her birth is that she was not due until January 18, 2009. She was born 13 inches tall and weighed 1 lb and 10 oz. She stayed in the NICU until December 31, 2008. (Her first diaper was the size of my cell phone battery)

Chloe was a little fighter; the NICU nurses gave her the nickname feisty. Chloe always did what she wanted, she was born when she wanted, the nurse would position her a certain way, she would move, she would be wrapped in her blanket to simulate the womb and she would kick her foot out of the blanket. That’s when I knew she would beat the odds; she was my little survivor.

Chloe is doing great now, laughing, smiling, and talking (baby gibberish, but I’m not sure if she realizes that)

The Chloe collection is made from Swarovski Crystals, crosses, angels, all things that remind me of miracles, innocence and spunk; all that I would use to describe my Chloe; my true miracle.

Spotlight on Whimsical Prints

On Fridays, I feature an artist, product, or Etsy

shop; today’s spotlight is on Whimsical Prints. I have personally used Whimsical Prints to design my Save the Date magnets. Leeanna from Whimsical Prints was fantastic. I sent her my information and requested a sample on a Sunday and within a few hours she had a sample for me to review. She responded quickly to my edits and I was able to order my magnet the same day. The magnets came that same week. She truly made the experience as easy and stress free as possible. The magnets came out great and my family and friends loved them. Here is a pic of my save the date magnet.

Who's Wearing Fabulous Chic features Fabulous Chic Customers. The first person featured is me. I wear Fabulous Chic, all items that I make are items that I would wear. The necklace that I am wearing is a new necklace made from cubic zirconia flowers on a sterling silver chain.
